LGBTIQ communities and gender diverse people may encounter discrimination, anxiety with disclosure around sexuality, feelings of isolation, mental health issues, substance abuse, eating -disorders, self-harm and increased suicidal ideation. LGBTIQ people can also encounter stress around them meeting the perceived expectations of their own community. Consequently, a variety of choric health conditions are also common among LGBITQ people.
Cath Adams Counselling is proud to have served the LGBTIQ communities for more than 15 years. Over this period, we have seen progress around greater recognition of diversity and support for community members. As a result, our counsellors have developed great understanding of the very broad range of issues affecting LGBTIQ people and has been at the forefront of developing successful strategies for their progression and support for their families.
